What is ABA?

ABA 1:1 Support

At Avanzos, we provide individualized ABA services tailored to each child’s specific needs, emphasizing personal growth in communication, social skills, and adaptive behaviors. Our one-to-one support approach ensures focused, effective learning in everyday settings, creating a positive and engaging environment.

  • Personalized, one-to-one support: Focusing on each child's unique goals.

  • Growth in essential life skills: Building communication, social interaction, and adaptive behaviors.

  • Seamless integration into daily life: Making learning natural and enjoyable in familiar environments.

Natural Environment Teaching (NET)

Our ABA services use NET, a specialized approach conducted in real-world settings like the child’s home or school, fostering a comfortable and familiar environment. By following the child’s lead and engaging them in their natural activities, we create more meaningful and engaging learning experiences.

  • Real-world learning environments: Conducted in the child’s home, school, or play area for comfort and familiarity.

  • Child-led engagement: Therapists follow the child's interests and activities.

  • Meaningful learning: Embedding skills in natural, everyday interactions.

Child-Led Learning with Targeted Goals

Our ABA services are driven by the belief that learning should be enjoyable and purpose-driven. By observing each child’s unique preferences, our therapists tailor teaching moments that feel natural and engaging, aligning with specific developmental goals for effective skill-building.

  • Fun, goal-oriented learning: Combining enjoyment with targeted growth.

  • Individualized approach: Guided by each child’s preferences and interests.

  • Motivating and effective skill-building: Using natural interests to foster meaningful progress.

Preparing for Adulthood: Transition Support

Avanzos is deeply committed to guiding teens through the critical transition from adolescence to adulthood. We recognize that this phase can be challenging, and we focus on preparing teens for the complexities of adult life by teaching essential life skills. These skills include independent living, such as managing daily routines and personal responsibilities; self-advocacy, helping teens confidently express their needs and make informed decisions; social communication, which is vital for building relationships and navigating social environments; and job readiness, equipping teens with the tools to pursue meaningful employment.

Our technicians take a personalized approach, working closely with each teen to develop these skills in a way that aligns with their individual strengths and goals. We emphasize fostering independence, self-confidence, and practical problem-solving abilities, ensuring that teens are not only prepared but empowered to navigate adulthood successfully. At Avanzos, we aim to help teens build a foundation for long-term self-sufficiency and personal fulfillment as they move toward a more independent future.

Sessions with Avanzos

At Avanzos, ABA sessions extend beyond the traditional settings to immerse individuals in their communities. Our therapists work alongside clients to teach practical life skills through real-world experiences. For example, community integration is a core part of our approach, where clients learn how to navigate public transportation such as buses and metro systems. This not only helps build independence but also empowers them to confidently access community resources and engage with their environment.

In addition to transportation skills, we support clients in getting involved in volunteer work and participating in after-school groups. These activities foster social engagement, promote a sense of belonging, and help clients develop interpersonal skills. Our goal is to ensure that each individual is equipped with the tools and confidence to thrive in social and community settings, setting the foundation for greater independence and success in life.
